Welcome to nomatch — the companion app for nomads.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. We're committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
nomatch is designed with privacy in mind. We collect only what's necessary to connect you with fellow nomads, and we've built specific features to protect your location and personal information.
Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with our practices, please do not use the app. By using nomatch, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you create an account and use nomatch, you provide us with:
Account Information
- Apple ID (via Sign in with Apple on iOS)
- Google account (via Google Sign-In on Android)
- Email address (optional on iOS — you may choose to hide this through Apple; provided by Google on Android)
Profile Information
- Display name
- Age
- Pronouns (optional)
- Bio (optional)
- Photos (1-6 images)
Lifestyle Information
- Rig type (van, RV, skoolie, car, other)
- Rig description (optional)
- Travel style (full-time, part-time, weekend)
- What you're seeking (friends, dating, or both)
- "Down for" activity tags (coffee, hike, cowork, etc.)
Social Information
- Interest expressions (when you're interested in connecting with someone)
- Connections (mutual interests)
- Contact information you choose to share with connections (e.g. Instagram handle, phone number)
- Blocked users
Verification Information
- Selfie photo (for identity verification)
- Vehicle photo (for community verification)
- Verification photos are deleted from our servers after review
Information Collected Automatically
Location Data
- Your location when you open the app (with your permission)
- We apply 100-meter grid snapping — your exact location is never stored or shared. Other users only see your approximate area.
Usage Data
- Last active timestamp
- App interactions for improving the experience
Device Information
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:

We do not use your information for:
Advertising or ad targeting, selling to third parties, or building profiles for purposes unrelated to nomatch.
Location Data: How We Protect You
Location is essential for finding nearby nomads, but we take your location privacy seriously. Here's how we protect you:
100-Meter Grid Snapping
Your exact GPS coordinates are never stored or shared. Before any location data is saved or shown to others, we snap it to a 100-meter grid. This means:
- Other users can only determine your location within approximately one city block
- Trilateration attacks (used to pinpoint exact location on other apps) don't work on nomatch
- Your precise position remains private
Ghost Mode
You can go completely invisible at any time:
- When Ghost Mode is on, you don't appear on the map or in discovery
- Your existing connections can still message you
- Toggle it on/off whenever you want
Auto-Pause
If you haven't opened the app in 24 hours:
- Your location automatically stops updating
- You'll show as "Last seen [time ago]" instead of your location
- Location resumes when you open the app again
No Background Location
We only request "While Using App" location permission:
- Your location is only updated when the app is actively open
- We don't track you in the background
- No passive location monitoring
No Location History
We don't store your location history. Only your current (grid-snapped) location is kept, and only while you're visible.
Third-Party Services
nomatch uses the following third-party services to operate:
Supabase
We use Supabase as our backend to store your data securely.
- What's stored: Your profile, connections, interests, blocks, verification submissions, and location
- Where: Supabase cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Privacy: Supabase Privacy Policy
Authentication
We support platform-native sign-in:
- iOS: Sign in with Apple — shares your Apple ID and optionally your email. You can choose to hide your real email. Apple Privacy Policy
- Android: Google Sign-In — shares your Google account email and display name. Google Privacy Policy
RevenueCat
Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat.
- What's shared: Your user ID and purchase/subscription information
- Privacy: RevenueCat Privacy Policy
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android)
Push notifications on Android are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- What's shared: A device token (Firebase Installation ID) used to deliver notifications
- Privacy: Firebase Privacy Policy
Google Maps SDK (Android)
The map on Android is powered by Google Maps.
- What's collected: Device metadata, request logs, and crash diagnostics by the SDK
- Note: Your location is sent to our servers (Supabase), not to Google. The Maps SDK only renders the map tiles.

We do not share your personal information with these services beyond what's necessary to provide nomatch's features.
Data Sharing
We share your information only in these circumstances:
With Other nomatch Users
- Your public profile information (name, age, pronouns, bio, photos, rig info, seeking preference, activity tags)
- Your approximate location (grid-snapped, when visible)
- Your "active now" or "last seen" status
With Service Providers
- Supabase (data storage and backend)
- RevenueCat (subscriptions)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android push notifications)
- Google Maps SDK (Android map rendering)
- These providers only access data necessary to perform their services
For Legal Reasons
- If required by law, legal process, or government request
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of nomatch, our users, or others
- To enforce our Terms of Service
We Never:
Sell your personal information, share your data with advertisers, or provide your exact location to anyone.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
- Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS
- Secure storage: Data is stored in Supabase's infrastructure with encryption at rest
- Authentication: Sign in with Apple (iOS) and Google Sign-In (Android) provide secure, privacy-preserving authentication
- Row-level security: Database access policies ensure users can only access data they are authorized to see
- Access controls: Only you can access your private data; public profile data is visible only to authenticated nomatch users
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain your information as follows:

When you delete your account, we delete your data from our active systems. Some data may persist in backups for a limited period as part of standard backup procedures.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Access
You can view all your profile information within the app at any time.
Correction
You can edit your profile information at any time through the app's Edit Profile feature.
Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or by visiting our account deletion page. Account deletion removes your profile and all associated data, connections, interests, verification photos, and location data. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Data Portability
You may request a copy of your data by contacting us at privacy@nomatch.app.
Withdraw Consent
You can withdraw consent for:
- Location: Disable location permissions in your device Settings
- Notifications: Disable notifications in your device Settings
- Account: Delete your account entirely
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you're a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
Right to Know
You can request information about the categories of personal information we've collected, the sources of that information, our business purpose for collecting it, the categories of third parties with whom we share it, and the specific pieces of personal information we've collected about you.
Right to Delete
You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions. Use the in-app account deletion feature or contact us.
Right to Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
Information Sharing
We do not "sell" personal information as defined by the CCPA.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you're in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data based on:
- Contract: To provide the nomatch service you've signed up for
- Legitimate interests: To improve our service and ensure security
- Consent: For optional features like location sharing and notifications
Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction: Request limited processing of your data
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time
Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our service providers (Supabase, RevenueCat, Google, Apple) operate. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and other legal mechanisms to ensure adequate protection.

Children's Privacy
nomatch is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@nomatch.app. If we discover we've collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.
Account Deletion
You can delete your nomatch account at any time from within the app on iOS or Android. If you no longer have the app installed, you can request deletion by emailing privacy@nomatch.app. For detailed instructions, visit our account deletion page.
When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, photos, connections, interests, verification photos, location data, and push notification tokens.
This process is immediate and irreversible. If you want to use nomatch again, you'll need to create a new account and complete verification again.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
- We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- For significant changes, we'll notify you through the app or via email
- Continued use of nomatch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
